Hair Fashion: The Braided Fishtail Braid

So if you have been following me then surely you have observed that my hair is styled in individual box braids. What you probably DIDN'T know is that I did them myself...video coming one of these days.

But I rarely do anything with my hair...or with my synthetic fiber, rather...except pull them up into a bun on the top of my head. That's starting to get a bit boring.

So I am on a little mission to try to do different things with my braids. Yesterday, I did hairstyle change number one: the fishtail braid.

I have always been a big fan of the fishtail braid and have secretly wished my hair was long and fine enough to style it that way. About a month ago I finally learned how to do it and experimented with it on my niece and little sister's hair. It was so cute! It made me love it even more!

So now that my "hair" is long enough to rock the style myself, for work yesterday, I braided my braids into a fishtail on the side of my head. Here are a few snapshots:

You like? Here are a few mirror pics; although I probably should have cleaned my mirrors first!

Unrelated note: I can't wait to redecorate my room!

Jeans and t-shirt day for work! :)

I also tried to get some snaps of the bottom of the braid but it was difficult to hold my hand steady at that angle so the photo is blurry:

So what do you think? These photos are after I first finished braiding it. I kind of pulled them apart a bit to widen it and by the end of my shift, it was much more loose and preeeeeeeeeeeeetty! I received a lot of compliments as well as a few looks of approval! It was also difficult to walk past a mirror without checking myself out! #vanity

I wish I had somewhere to go besides JCPenney but I will definitely style it like this again whenever I go somewhere worthwhile (not saying that my job isn't worthwhile...but you know what I mean!)! Insha'Allah (God-willing), next style post, if of course I haven't decided to try something new by then!

In the meantime, here is the video that I watched to learn how to do the braid:

This lovely young lady's name is Nee and aside from her Youtube channel, she also has a website (http://justbebexo.com/) full of tutorials for really cute hairstyles, mostly catered to those with medium to long hair. I've already seen a few more ideas I want to try so stay tuned! :)

So before I get up outta here, how's about one more snap for the road?

Here's looking at you, babes! :)
Aaaaah! Me likey! 'Tis all for now, my lovelies! Until next time, keep it cute!

Love,

K.

  2. That fish tail is great! I've been missing hair just a tad bit these days with all these braid and bun trends.
