Bag Trend: Meredith Wendell
Set inspired by bags from Meredith Wendell's Resort 2013 line. Created for a Polyvore contest where we had to showcase what we view as a bag trend for Winter 2013.
I am actually not a big fan of bags. I used to buy purses all the time when I lived overseas; most of them have either been given away or are packed away somewhere. I don't remember the last time I bought a purse, to be honest; but I do like the bright colors of the Meredith Wendell collection.
I also liked the styling featured on the models and it was only a sweet coincidence that the catalog shots for two of the three bags I chose for the set happened to have models dressed in the same look: sweatshirt, ripped jeans, ankle-strap heels. I'd say it's a perfect combination as we transition to Spring...which, let the weather these days tell it, will be happening sooner than later.
Be sure to swing by the website, linked above, and check out Meredith and Wendell's bags, belts and jewelry. Way too pricey for my budget but a little internet window shopping never hurt anyone!
Til next time, ya'll be good, nah, ya' hear?
Love,

Lunch Date with My Beefcake Pt. 1
So my Beefy and I went to lunch today in Raleigh, and although it was rushed, it was still lovely! I'm still too shy to ask him to take photos of me so it wasn't until I got home (and once in the restaurant's restroom) that I was able to snap a few photos of myself. They suck...'cause my camera sucks...and I suck for not asking honey-love to take pics for me...but here is a wee glimpse of what I wore today:
I should have totally closed the stall doors first...but I was trying to hurry in case someone came in! |
So the BCBG Max Azria sweater I am wearing was actually purchased for Christmas but as I sat around in my pajamas all day on Christmas, I was more than happy to rip the tags off of it today. I love the rose-like detail around the collar and I knew my babe would love the style and color as well! (He did! ;)
I have had these jeans for like 7 or 8 years now and they still look and fit great. Some of the beads are missing on the stitching but had I not told you, you wouldn't notice. I purchased these from a store called Motivi in Doha and because they stretch, they still work with my body. My babe loved them, too! Couldn't keep his eyes or hands off my bum! :p
My shoes are from Zara. I purchased them on sale in Winter of 2011, methinks. I've only wore them one other time before today so it was nice to break them in a bit more.
I kept it very minimal with accessories: ribboned loop earring from Old Navy courtesy of my baby sis and a cracked pearl ring that I've had for ages from Accessorize. Also from Accessorize is my little gold "Love" clip that I wore in my hair:
It took me a million tries to get that pic! |
As featured in the set, I'd hoped it would be cold enough outside to finally wear my faux fur coat, purchased from Forever 21 back in November for a mere $7.00:
However, it was only 52 degrees today. Sigh, perhaps next winter for you, my friend.
Speaking of $7.00, Beefy and I did some window shopping after lunch and one of our stops was H&M where I found this loverly blouse:
This photo really does the blouse zero justice. It really is adorable and if you saw my post from last night, you would understand my true joy at finding this top...and at such a great price. Beefy was rushing me so I didn't get a chance to try it on. At a size 8, it's actually a perfect fit...almost too perfect. I probably should have gotten a size 10 but I doubt if he'll be driving me an hour up the road to Raleigh to exchange it.
I can still work with it, though. And with its sheer material, it will certainly transition into Spring/Summer; cuff the sleeves and pair it with a cute cami, I am set! Babe and I STILL haven't made it to the movies so perhaps I will wear it then. I may even have him snap some proper photos of me this time!
Tis all for now, my lovelies. Back to work tomorrow so time to get into my evening meditation. Chat with ya soon!
Love,
K.

2013 Trend: The Printed Silk Blouse
Printed silk blouses...gotta have 'em all...well, I adore print blouses of all materials...it just so happens that while creating this set (another inspiring Polyvore contest), all of my favorites ones just so happened to be either silk or silk-crepe...so silk it is!
I am very much into blouses now. I plan on taking a trip to a couple of the thrift stores around town in the near future in search of some vintage tops. I'm also kind of into obnoxious prints. You know how something can be so obscene it's actually cute? No? Hmmm. I will have to post an example soon. I saw such a blouse in Marshall's about two weeks ago. I may go back and see if it's still there. It had a very old school Versace vibe to it. Just rude...but awesome.
That's kind of what I am into this year. Crazy print blouses paired with skinny jeans (another trend I was never really into until now) and ankle boots or lace up heels, and I am set no matter the occasion. I am also planning to invest in belts this year. I own ONE. Nicht gut.
I'm off to bed now. Gotta get up early tomorrow to get super cute for my day trip with my honey-love. We're going a few cities away for lunch, a movie, and a bit of shopping! I'm so excited! May get him to snap a few pics of me, so hopefully I'll have a proper outfit post for you all tomorrow!
Ta-ta for now!
Love,
K.

Nadya Hasan: Model Inspiration
So Polyvore had a contest where we were to create a set inspired by a model whose style we love the most. I don't have a model whose style I love the most; however, the first person who came to mind was Nadya Hasan. Nadya is a 22 year old fashion blogger from the United Arab Emirates and I must say, I am absolutely obsessed with her blog!
I visit her site daily, or should I say SITES daily to ooh and aah over what impossibly stylish look she is showcasing at the moment. The outfit shown above is actually one of my favorite looks by her. She is rocking this FABULOUS Kenzo dress with a waist belt from H&M and Alexander McQueen heels. Fabulous.
Click here for the full story and more pics! |
Another fave is this look where she is rocking a paisley dress from Topshop and a pair of beautiful Christian Louboutin heels:

The girl can wear a dress! With her slim frame, she also looks amazing in pencil skirts, which I'm sure she owns by the hundreds. I think she looks so sophisticated in sexy in the photo below, where she is wearing an Yves Saint Laurent t-shirt with a leather skirt from Zara:
You gotta get a closer look at the accessories she's rocking! Amazing! Click here. |
I'm also in love with how she's totally glammed up a simple tank top from Forever 21 with this amazing bib necklace and soft flowy maxi skirt:

And she isn't always glitz and glam. She's equally as stylish when hanging out in a pair of comfy jeans as well!
I am in love with this biker boots from Zara! More pics of Nadya here! |
She is the reason I am adding more skinny jeans to my wardrobe! Outfit details here. |
Nadya has also been featured in major publications such as Vogue Australia, several online fashion highlights, and local magazines such as Khaleej Times. Not bad for a recent grad!
And don't even get me started on her shoes...the girl's shoe game is something serious!! She's just awesome! Let me wind it down because I could seriously go on and on about this chick but I want you to go and check her out for yourself!
You can Like her on Facebook @ The Fierce Diaries, follow her on Instagram @Thefierce_nay and she also has a Tumblr. For full outfit posts, however, check out her main blog The Fierce Diaries...I live on that page. Nadya is my style hero!
Until next time, stay stylish, stay inspired!
Love,
K.
